Lakefront Beer Line

June 9, 2014

I have, over the past few years, become a very big fan of Lakefront. They have a funny origin story that starts with a gag gift between two brothers but more importantly they have always made very good beer. From the simple to the complex, they brew some really great stuff and the Beer Line does not disappoint.

The Beer Line pours a clear amber color with a thin white head. The scent is like a pile of dark and sweet fruit that’s been sprinkled with just a dash of brown sugar. Its body is a little heavier than average but not as weighty as actually ‘heavy’ beers, and it feels very creamy, almost like milk.

Surprisingly, the first taste to hit your tongue is a strong mixture of brown sugar and sweet biscuity malt. The sticky dark fruit flavor comes in as a side note, providing more of a balance to the spicy sweet bread flavor of the malts. The beer comes to a quick close with a burst of spice and a boozy warmth that reminds you that this beer is over 12% ABV.

I definitely found myself ordering another Beer Line after I had the first, and I have a feeling you’ll do the same.
